Visiting Artists- Trad Musician of the Year
We were lucky to have John Carty coming out from Ireland (fiddle and banjo - mainly, but lots of instruments). John Carty has just been awarded the Traditional Musician of the Year Award from TG4, the Irish TV Station. A late change has meant that Colin McLeod didn't come but Chris Duncan (Scottish Fiddle) provided a great highlight for the Festival. A special thanks goes to Fiona Doherty (fiddle), Alex Burke (flute and whistle) and Jenny Gall (Singer) for all the help they gave during the week. As a late addition we also had Michael O'hAlmhain come out as a representative of the executive of Comhaltas in Ireland to open the week and expand the range of performance in the concerts. |
Fremantle Prison Museum
There's no sinister connection here as has been suggested. Just that a lot of Irish were sent here in years gone by.
